Dr Andrea Watkins-Neethling

Dr Andrea Watkins-Neethling graduated with an MBBCh degree from Wits University in 2008. She then came to Cape Town and spent her next 2 years working as an intern at 2 Military hospital. This was followed by a year of community service at the Institute for Maritime Medicine in Simonstown. Andrea stayed on at The Institute for Maritime Medicine for a further 6 years and during this time qualified as a diving medical officer and started an ARV clinic. She gained a wealth of experience treating retired military personnel, active military members as well as their families.

After 8 years with the military, Andrea decided to join private practice, and after 2 years she found her home at Brampton Family Practice, which she has been a part of since 2018. Andrea now co- owns Brampton Family Practice with Dr Marion Anderson. Their complementary styles of practising medicine bring a fresh perspective whilst still holding all the traditional values and standards which Brampton’s patients have come to know and trust over many years.

Andrea is passionate about providing patient-centred care to all her patients, young and old. She enjoys the challenges and complexities of geriatric medicine, but equally, as a mom herself, loves working with children. Moms with young children relate well to her, identifying that she has ongoing real-life experience in this area! Andrea also enjoys tackling mental health issues and has experience with this across all age groups. Her gentle and caring medical style make her an ideal fit for the more anxious patient.

Andrea is happily married to her husband Gareth, and is mom to Olivia, aged 9, and Harrison, aged 5. When she finds moments of free time, she loves to bake, go for long walks and hikes, and spend time with her family and friends.
