Dr Andrea Watkins-Neethling
Andrea graduated with an MBBch from Wits University. After completing her internship at 2 Military Hospital in Wynberg, she went on to complete her community service at The Institute for Maritime Medicine, were she remained for the following 6 years. It was there that she qualified as a diving medical officer, enabling her to perform specialised medical assessments for divers.
She also started and ran an ARV clinic and developed an interest in HIV medicine.
She served a great deal of the military’s young families and a very large retired population, leading to an interest in both geriatric medicine and child health care. These interests have carried through into her work as a GP. She has been locum at various practices around the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town until joining Brampton in May 2018. She also enjoys working with womens’ health issues and effecting lifestyle change to treat chronic medical conditions. She is a family practitioner at heart and enjoys treating the whole family!
Andrea is married and she and her husband Gareth are the proud parents of 2 young children, Olivia and Harrison. She is a keen baker and enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, walking and exploring the natural beauties our wonderful city has to offer.
